The organisers behind The British Comic Awards have released this year’s list of nominations.
If you’re after some less mainstream strips to occupy yourself with, you can’t do much better than this lot.
The winners will be announced at the Thought Bubble Festival in November.

In the first group reviews done by Cornwall Graphic Novel Group, Tim, Matt and Emily took a look at volume one of Neil Gibson’s Twisted Dark graphic collection.
This is the pile of indie/small press comics and graphics titles that we eventually ended up with on Saturday’s meeting last week.
There’s a couple of Deadstar titles, Scar, many others plus Fetishman.
July’s meeting is fast approaching and so here’s this month’s poster. The main part of discussion will be about indie comics and small press - we’ll even be chating about our favourite webcomics.
I’ll be bringing in a selection of indie/small press comics that I own and I’m hoping others will bring their faves along too.
Considering the recent pieces on whether or not the UK even has a comic book industry anymore, this is definitely a meeting you can’t afford to miss.
So, come along to Loading at 2pm on Saturday 28th July. All are welcome.

Hey nerds quit reading your faggy teen fiction and go buy Robert Hunter’s totally underrated indie comic ‘The New Ghost’. The art and story line are stunning.
That reminds me, July’s meeting of Cornwall Graphic Novel Group is going to be taking a look at indie publications. So bring your fave indie and small press gems along* and let us know why you love them.
*Web comics are also up for discussion

We’re looking for a 200 words long review of indie collection Twisted Dark by Neil Gibson.
It’ll form part of a group review, joining two other opinions already written on the collection.
Get in touch through the contact details on the right if you’re interested. This is open to people in the UK only, as if you haven’t read the collection, we’ll need to post a copy to you.
