This month in DC History
The patriotic Captain Atom met his foe Major Force for the first time in 1988. Major Force was the 2nd test subject for the “Captain Atom Project” and was assigned to shadowy government bureaus. He died a lot but always came back. They probably shouldn’t have given superpowers to a guy who was sentence to life for murder. Bad move guys.
What else happened in 1988?
- Despite Barbara getting shot in The Killing Joke, Batman cracked a smile in the end of it. Probably from a whiff of Joker’s gas.
- Hawk and Dove got their own miniseries but not the boys club of yesteryear since Dove was dead. Dawn Granger took the role of Dove and the five issue series reestablished the pair.
- A Death in the Family happened and Jason Todd lost a popularity poll that could only be devised by Jigsaw.
It is on!
We’ll be talking about the Kick-Ass comics and films on Saturday 23 February in Loading, Falmouth.
All welcome.

For the attention of comics/graphics creators in CGNG.
Skullkickers‘ Jim Zub has been laying out some interesting advice for emerging comics creators on how much money a creator can hope to make from mainstream comics sales to the what digital can offer. Definitely worth a read.
Coming along to the meeting at Loading, 2pm Saturday? Why not check out this “documentary” that was produced after the mass banning of horror and crime comics in 1950s America.
