Over on Newsrama there’s a great analysis of the ongoing reception to the impending marriage of Marvel’s Northstar to his long-term boyfriend. Great selection of industry views, tying it in with DC’s revelation that there’s going to be a revelation of one of their characters coming out as gay in the near future.
But as writer Soctt Lobdell (he wrote Northstar’s coming out storyline in the ’90s) explains:
“Twenty years ago he came out and it was in all the newspapers. Twenty years later and it makes headlines that he’s getting married. Let’s hope that in 20 more years, gay comic book characters don’t make the news at all because they are as common as capes and cowls!”
